Message From The Director, July’21

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dear Retail Partners,

The pandemic slowed down many things, but it does not slow down the time. We have stepped foot into second half of year 2021.

In the past two months, different areas were put under various stages of movement control. The Malaysian Government then declared a nationwide full lockdown effective June 2021 as the immediate measure to flatten the curve of COVID-19.

Restraining travelling is definitely the way to curb COVID-19 spread. However, it is undeniable that the national vaccination program has to be sped up to increase the chance of winning this fight in the long run. In this regard, I wish to applaud the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs for announcing the Economic Front-liners Vaccination Program for the retail sector. We highly anticipate the launch of this vaccination program as we cannot emphasize enough the importance of health and safety of our Caltex front-liners.

On each day in this pandemic, around 2,000 front-liners under Pen Petroleum’s network are being exposed to the risk of COVID-19 infection. Regrettably, our network has reported 12 positive cases thus far. It is not easy to manage the consequences following thereof. Stations have to close down temporarily for lack of manpower. Retail Partners and staffs have fear that they may contact COVID-19, and spread to their family members. Thus, vaccination for our front-liners is extremely crucial at the moment. We are ready to work closely with the Ministry as well as Chevron Malaysia to assist our Caltex retailers and staff whenever there is opportunity.

I would like to urge all Retail Partners to encourage and educate your staffs to register for the national vaccination program. You are also welcomed to spread the awareness of vaccination to your local community, where you can display the educational posters uploaded in this bulletin. They are designed by our dedicated Xpress Point team.

Also, I wish to remind our Retail Partners to continue leveraging on technologies to reach out and stay connected with our customers. Creativity is always part and parcel of retailing business – this applies to conventional business like petrol station nowadays.

Yours sincerely,
Saw Chang Heng
